I had been doing strength training for more than 25 years when I started working with Spencer. I thought I knew what I was doing, but Spencer proved me wrong. My goal was to improve my powerlifting, but herniated discs from an old injury were causing setback after setback. Spencer brought a very disciplined approach to my training, beginning with mobility improvement, flexibility, a focus on core strength and many exercises I had never tried before. In less than two years, Spencer coached me to a 3-lift total of 1100 lbs, a 300 lb increase from where we started. Mind you, this was at the age of 50.
Spencer isn't your typical fitness trainer. He is not just some guy who earned an easy online cert and goes through the motions at a McGym. He has rigorously studied fitness, nutrition and human performance his entire adult life. It's his true calling. He stays on top of the science, brings a disciplined approach, and practices what he preaches. Give him 6 months, follow his guidance, put in the work, and you will be thrilled by the results. I've left Vermont, and training with Spencer is one of the things I miss most about the Green Mountain State.
I was turning 60 and wanted to get into shape. Both my parents were in their 90s, and if I lived to their age, I wanted to be physically able to care for myself. I knew that to achieve that goal, I needed help. I met with Spencer Cloutier, and since then, I have not looked back.
When I started working with Spencer three years ago, I experienced pain in my left knee. We work on strengthening my leg and stretching my hip. It took some time, but now, the pain is gone.

As a woman going through perimenopause, I was noticing a gradual weight gain and the inability to slough if off as easily as I could in my 20s and 30s. In addition, I had a shoulder injury and chronic hip pain which increased my reluctance to lift weights for fear of reinjuring myself. This led to inconsistent workouts, slowly diminishing to none as time went on. I decided to seek out a personal trainer and began my training with Spencer Cloutier two years ago with the intent of staying consistent with workouts, toning, maintaining a healthy weight and not hurting myself.
